Stand Up for Carrie Prejean
53No one expects every beauty contestant to be an Einstein, so as far as intellectual abilities go beauty queens make for good PR but seem to invariably trip over themselves on the public platform. We should measure them by what they can really do well, not what we imagine to be their genius. Have you never heard of the halo effect? Pretty people are automatically attributed with all kinds of positive behaviours. So they experience this meteoric rise to the top of whatever PR related corner of the world they happen to crash their ship into and the rest is history. Just ask Sarah Palin.
Caroline "Carrie" Prejean has proven faithful to the mould. The outspoken American model and former beauty queen from Vista, California would have been America’s darling except for one cosmic slip; she happened to be born into an evangelical household.
The narrative must mention she was Miss California USA 2009, who placed first runner up in the Miss USA 2009 pageant. She gained international attention and vitriol from certain quarters of the gay rights community over her answer to a question about same-sex marriage during the 2009 Miss USA pageant. Judge Perez Hilton asked whether she believed every U.S. state should legalize same-sex marriage. The honest answer gushed out and became the turning point in her life:
Well I think it's great that Americans are able to choose one way or the other. We live in a land where you can choose same-sex marriage or opposite marriage. And, you know what, in my country, in my family, I think that I believe that marriage should be between a man and a woman, no offense to anybody out there. But that’s how I was raised and I believe that it should be between a man and a woman.
Prejean has not been doing a good job defending herself as a crusader for biblical marriage because of the surfacing of alleged sex tapes of her with racy content. She has been stripped of her Miss California title and has attracted negative criticism especially after her November Larry King interview.
But given her obvious intellectual limitations I want to take a stand to support her. Not the sex tape. Not the breast implant. Not even her participation in a beauty contest.
I support her for stating the simple biblical truth in her response to a crucial question. All this before one of the largest media audience on earth. I invite you stand up for Carrie Prejean as well, if you believe in the simple fact of what constitutes a family as designed by the Creator.
Of course she has made mistakes. And like so many persons on both sides of the same-sex debate when faced with their own duplicity, she might have prevaricated about the pornography scandal in order to protect her ego. Wrong? Certainly!
But I am convinced that her primary sin as a celebrity has been to give an honest answer to Perez Hilton. The politically incorrectness of which will haunt her until the day of her death; but the courage of which will crown her as a true heroine of conscience when forced to declare a position on family and marriage.

I believe her over those pinheads that run that meaningless contest !
God bless you for writing a hub on this subject. I think I can say what I really think without getting banned again. Most of us have done far worst in the sex department than Carrie, to bad she put it on tape. My problem with her is she does not understand that gay people do not have the rights that straight people have when they get married. If you are opposed to gay marriage fine. I dont want to walk down your church aile or sit on your couch and drink tea with you. I dont want my kids givin to strangers if I die. I dont want my lover to have to fight the city for a month before they release my body to him. I dont want to have to pay higher taxes than a straight couple. I want to collect my partners Social Security just like you and carrie. You and Carrie can believe what you want. But dont deny me my rights as a United States Citizen. Dont you understand how evil that is. To smile in someone face and tell them they do not deserve the same rights you have "But I will pray for you". I dont think she deserve to have her sex life out in the public like this. But I do think she deserves to be challenged on her opinion on gay marriage.
Let the social lemmings get hold of and issue and all common sense goes out the window. The question should have never been asked, or answered.
But the answer was honest and Prejean went out of her way not to offend anyone.
No matter before, she was finished speaking the Dundder heads were warming up the spin machines. How dare she, while elevating Ms. Hilton to an even more popular status, than he deserves.
But that's the world we live in, whats wrong is right and whats right is wrong.
Very [excellent] Hub.

I agree with you - but frankly I think it was a set-up. Hilton only asked to make the situation about political correctness, but consider the source . . . Interesting hub :)
